Tropical Storm Kiko strengthened off Mexico's Pacific coastline Friday, and forecasters warned that the storm's outer bands could kick up strong waves, winds and rains on land. Twenty-four people believed to be Central American illegal immigrants drowned when their boat sank off southern Mexico's Pacific coast on Friday, a local emergency official said. The bodies of two dozen people washed ashore in southern Mexico after emergency officials received reports that a boat carrying Central American migrants had capsized in the Pacific. Small businesses in New Mexico took out 502 loans from U.S. Small Business Administration programs in FY 2007, totaling $130.9 million. This exceeded the previous all-time high in New Mexico of $120 million in loans.
