Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Mexico's central bank kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged as a slowing economy in the U.S., the biggest destination for Mexican goods, eased pressure to control rising local food costs. Hurricane Ivo picked up some speed late Thursday as it curved toward Mexico's Pacific coast on path that could take it near Baja Califorina's resorts over the weekend, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. Subtropical Depression 10 in the Gulf of Mexico strengthened Friday into a tropical depression, the National Hurricane Center said in a report. Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Mexico's central bank kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged for a fifth month and signaled it's prepared to raise borrowing costs if food and fuel costs don't ease. Subtropical Depression 10 formed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico Friday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said in a report. Hurricane Ivo weakened to a tropical storm on Friday on its way to Mexico's Baja California peninsula, where it is due to make landfall in a sparsely populated desert area in the coming days.
